| Ascent in 2 days from Restonica route. Night in Timozzo shelter, use of a snow couloir in the north cirque leading to the ridge west of Monte Rotondo, then easy ridge with some scrambling to the top. | |

| In contrast to most of the summiters (who climb Monte Rotondo as part of their GR20 trip) we made a two-day trip and joined GR20 / Petra Piana hut from the west (see "Additions / Corrections"). Lac de Bellebone was still frozen and surrounded by some (flat) snowfields. Rest of the ascent was free from snow and more sort of hiking. The summit towers the whole Island like a castle! Stood up early and enjoyed a crisp panorama from Sardegna to Cap Corse... The shelter below is primitive but floor and roof seem to be ok. Place for about six persons. As the Refuge is small and seems always to be crowded perhaps an alternative! | ||
