keithalexanderVia ferrata alleghesi   Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 17, 2009
Walked from Coi to the Refugio Coldai the day before. Was not too busy, and weather was sunny. Descended the Via Normale, which was more arduous than the ascent.

Date Climbed: Aug 19, 2006

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Rifugio at Passo Staulanza and startet our climp early morning (6 am). From the camp site Palafavera we hiked up to Rifugio coldai and left some of our equipment there and had a small breakfast. Then continued up towards ferrata allenghesi. A fantastic ferrata. quite long actually. Reached the summit in perfect weather conditions. Headed to Rifugio Torrani where we had a cup of soup. It startet to rain and we hurried down via Tivan route and ended back in Rifugio Coldai for the night, All in all from Staulanza-Palafavera-coldai-Summit-Torrani-Coldai - 11 hours - Not crowded at all. Met only 4 climbers the entire day.

Weather was not really perfect, most of the time the peak was in the clouds. Didn't meet anybody on the ascent route. Great climb though, and being just alone out there magniefied the feeling. Descended along the normal route, this was combined scrambling and "skiing" on some snowy sections.

Mathias ZehringRoute Climbed: via ferrata Alleghesi - Tivan route Date Climbed: September 10th 1999  Sucess!

It was near the end of one week's holiday in the Zoldo valley (which I had won in a radio contest!). Because of our hotel we did not want to use Coldai hut and started early after driving to Casera di Pioda - but not early enough: After 45 min we reached Coldai hut, but most climbers who had slept there had already had breakfast and were ahead of us to the starting point of the via ferrata. So we had to wait at the end of the queue. We were in good shape after this week and had done more difficult ferratas. We had to wait often staying behind a group of seniors from Vienna, so it was not very exhausting. But you have to have a good head for heights and some experience in climbing. Weather was fine but not clear. The descent was long, exhausting and more demanding than the ascent. We were happy as we gained the hiking trail on foot of the mountain, though the way back into the valley was still very long
