| I started early (5,45 a.m.) south of Spluegen/Spluga pass at 2060 m with already enough snow for the ski. One steep slope (ski crampons necessary) and some gentle slopes lead to the main ridge west of the Lattenhorn where I met the busy route from swiss side. Behind P.3096 m I left ski in front of the steep final slope and climbed that one by foot with using an ice axe and crampons, 35 degress steepness, some rocks, a little bit exposed. I heard that somebody fell to death here one year ago. The summit is very narrow and a great viewpont, with views from Ortler to Monte Rosa. After descent I took downhill to the swiss side where snow conditions were better (harder) and had some great firn skiing. Along the pass road I walked back to my car on the italian side.
Very popular trip in spring after the opening of the Spluegen/Spluga pass road (about 50 persons climbed Tambo that day)
