| The slender spire to the south (left side) coming up the Back 'O Beyond Trail is called The Mace, and it is climbable. I accompanied my wife up to The Pass or The Col. This is where a faint trail goes down the opposite side toward Red Rock Crossing. When you're up on top, there's a flat rock to sit down. Now, look at a prominent crack between two spires to the SW, and you'll see where somebody left their rope hanging. Was that an SP-member's rope, or just a "loco-local's?" | |

| Went to the col? Amazing place and such a great view. I would love to figure out a way to the true top of one of them but it's is probably illegal and certainly lethal. | |

| Did not summit (not sure if it is even possible), but went to what the locals refer to as the "top". Met amazing people from all over the world who came to ring in the new year with the "vortex". Bathed in a stunning desert sunset during my descent. | |

| This is not too steep for the most part but get an early start as the sun heats up this side in the afternoon. Well worth the effort for the views and the many scrambling options once at the end of the trail. The actual summits are not do-able unless you have a death wish but exploring this rock is always rewarding. I first hiked it in 1975. | |
