| Went solo on a beautiful day. Started at the pull-off right after the bridge on I-70. There was a river crossing 5 minutes into the hike, but posed no difficulty. Lots of post-holing starting just below Janets cabin. Once on Searle Pass the route was pretty much snow free. The route back was straight-forward, just be aware of the high river flow in the afternoon. Total time was 8 hours with the conditons. I would have to say after looking at all the other routes to the summit of Jaques Peak, this has to be the most beautiful and secluded of them all. Can't wait to come back and do some winter skiing on Searle Pass. |
