| I arrived at the Grande Chermotane in the evening, spent the night there - I was all alone, and the weather and the light almost made it feel like a himalayan valley! - and went up the summit via Fenêtre de Durand at the crack of dawn. I arrived on top at 7:45 a.m. I was the only soul up there at that moment, and the view in the early morning light to the great peaks of the Pennine Alps as well as that impressive view over the Glacier d'Otemma made it an unforgettable experience. I went afterwards down to Glacier via By and hitched a lift to Aosta. | |
