Followed a long, convoluted route via Lamoille Lake, Box Canyon, Echo Lake, and Echo Canyon, approaching the summit itself from the south. Difficult, but lots of fun.
Hennen Canyon, East Ridge Date Climbed: Aug 13, 2006
Climbed it with Surgent of Phoenix on a fine Sunday morning. We also met up with a couple of cool locals from Elko, Kevin and Sunshine. We didn't see an obvious route up the north rib, so we angled up towards the east saddle of the dome. At that point, we climbed the skinny ridge up and over a bump and onto the summit by 1:05PM. It was very fun climbing!

This is certainly one of the best climbs in the state and I would dare to say in the country. Very remote and rarely visited but has some of the most amazing scenery and climbing challenges. An excellent way to spend two days and a great way to gain crampon experience.

Great hike with a great partner Dean. This is an all day long hike in great weather. With nearly 5,000ft EG from the top of the private campground, you need to be in shape for this one. The Ruby Mountains are beautiful and I will be back.

This is a truly impressive area. We hit one of those great autumn days when it was shirt sleeve weather and no wind on the summit. Wowser.
This peak has a little of everything but perhaps the best it has to offer is the views. It reminded me a bit of the Sierras, lots of granite and the recent snowfall gave it a more alpine feeling.
This was the 4th peak in 4 days for Dennis Poulin and myself and this was the highlight of the first 4.

Got a bug to drive too the Rubies and hit the peak. Around seven hours round trip, 5 hours to the peak and 2 hours back out. Had the trail and peak to myself couldn't have had a better day.
