| Climbed from Peterson Creek, dodging lightning bolts most of the way up. The climb itself is very uncomplicated. Just walk up the steep NW ridge of the mountain from the end of the road. The road itself is a challenge however. Lots of car scratching brush in the lower sections, trees down across the road in the upper section. It definitely requires a high clearance vehicle. I finally gave up and walked the last 2 miles to the base of the mountain. There are many good campsites in the canyon, especially in the very fine aspen groves. The wildflower display was outrageous and kept me busy with my camera. Lots of Limber pine on the upper slopes. The view from the summit is sublime. |
