| Just some suggestions I wrote to the page's author about: The trail is clearly marked, but I saw nothing about "Nelson's Trail". The clearing on the right is bordered by a fenced off area and there is an old beat-up sign that says "Captain Jacks Multi-Use Trail System". The trail number for Mount Rosa is #672 (the one on the right, going uphill). Then at the first summit the trail #673 to the right is the trail to take all the way to the top of Mount Rosa. After we summited we in the clouds most of the time, but every once in a a while there would be a clearing for beautiful views of the Penrose-Rosemont Reservoir and Pike's Peak. | ||

| Fun little hike that gets the heart pumping. Great views from the top and relatively unpopulated in spite of its close location to the Springs. Can't say enough good things about this gem of a hike. | ||

| I thought this was a pleasant hike up a mountain with great 360 degree views of the Pikes Peak region. There is a lot of relief when you look down at the plains at 6000 feet. | ||

| Finally! I've now climbed Rosa in every calendar month. I found amazingly little snow, and a good snowshoe-packed track up the final climb to the summit. 3:20 up, 2:42 down, from Gold Camp Road TH. | ||

| Lots of snow, I managed to stay dry. Our large group got fairly soaked feet. We had some flatlanders with us climbing their first mountain. They did very well and were thrilled on top. Excellent view from a low but very nice summit! Hard core ultra-conservative redneck gunslingers were shooting their guns back down at the trailhead, scaring everyone to death that passed through. The access road is pretty hairy is muddy conditions-suggest waiting until dry to attempt. | ||

| Nice hike. We got to 379 a little after 9am, and around the time we got to the trailhead for Rosa, it started to snow/sleet in spurts. Luckily it quit once we got a little farther up the trail. The cairns were pretty easy to find up in the clearing, and the trail was easy to follow, though there is still just a little snow across the path (though it's easy to hike around). The view from the summit was gorgeous, especially since the sun had made it out by that point. We made it back down around 1pm, just before it started to get overcast and gross again. So I guess we won out with the weather (relatively). Overall great hike. | ||

| Climb #19. Lots of postholing through fresh snow above 10,000 ft. made for a long day. But the weather was beautiful, I had the summit to myself, and added another calendar month to my Rosa history. | ||

| The trail from gold camp to the top of the waterfall was pretty dry. Shortly after that, we hit a couple inches of snow and saw no other tracks than that of an animal. We pushed on untill the fenced section separating frosty park from the trail. From here the snow got deeper and soon we ran into some truck tracks in the snow. We followed these tracks all the way to the face of Rosa where they still went up the mountain quite a bit. All the way up to where it just seemed too stupid to be with a vehicle. The trail vanished in the snow and we pretty much just headed straight in hopes of hitting the summit. Thoughout the entire day, the only people we saw were people down on gold camp. Finally we made it and it was well worth the hike and forging our path through the snow. | ||

| GoBigJ | Not the old Rosa ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 8, 2007 | |
| From the strip mine on the east side of Mt Rosa I followed a road going up that ended at another mining site. From there a few small carnies marked the way up Mt Rosa. They ran out fast and were hard to see. I was hoping to find Gen Pikes cave. No luck. By noon I was atop Mt Rosa. It was windy but not a cloud in the sky. On the way down I met a motor biker near the top. Odd, I thought this was off limits to such travel. The trail on the shoulder is now easy to follow. It’s very worn. At the T- section of 672 the signs and fence that once was their were gone. The trail down the west side is trashed. Three foot ruts are common at the steep parts the rest is eroding into a U shaped path. Only the level parts are decent. A fence now blokes the south fork of 672 to Frostys Park. Even the posts spaced for walking through are weird shut. Frostys Park is void of under growth. The camp sites are dirt and more dirt. Not until you cross another fence does the ground resemble forest. This is my forth summit in two years. Have I loved this mountain too much or not enough? | ||
