Great day, great views, great summit! Route was relatively snow free except for the areas shaded by trees and the ascent to the first saddle. Summited Sultan and hastily retreated to my vehicle just before the storms set in. I'm glad I summited at 0800 because I wouldn't want to be caught on this mountain in a storm.

Climbed from Little Molas as part of a long loop over six ranked summits: UN 12,849 (aka "West Turkshead Peak"), Grand Turk, Sultan Mountain, Bear Mountain, UN 13042 & UN 12764. Also climbed over unranked and recently named Spencer Peak. Awesome solo day!

With old and new friends. Really a nice trail for a San Juan lesser peak. The skies stayed blue all day. Just doesn't get much better than this.

I climbed with my "usual suspects" group at the SP summer gathering and was fortunate enough to have perfect weather that day. The wildflowers were incredible, and the views were outrageous. I highly recommend this hike/climb to anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery.

Climbed this interesting mountain with great folks. My Usual Suspects hiking group attended this SP gathering for a total of 19 SP members or associaties! Great weather (the San Juan weather really came through for us on this one), great day and fantastic people! I highly recommend this mountain, along with the Sultan because the views (as I suspected) are OUT OF THIS WORLD SPECTACULAR!

Climbed with the SP Summer Gathering, also climbed Sultan, Spencer and PT 12849. Great weather, pretty rare to be so clear for so long on a July day in the San Juans! Nice meeting everyone on the climb!

Enjoyed an amazing day with fantastic weather. Loved this mountain because it spares you the torturous San Juan "death by scree". I couldn't have asked for much more this day: Blue cloudless sky, fantastic company and amazing views all around. Hiking partners: SP Colorado Summer Gathering.

Climbed along with Sultan Mountain early in the morning. I had to do a lot of ups and downs along ridges to avoid the snow banks I was not equipped to travel over.

Jathan Cantu and Todd Schauer summitted Grand Turk at noon. After hiking to three different saddles and climbing an unnamed 13'er (13,087 ft.) we were rewarded with a beautiful view of downtown Silverton. Beautiful Columbines and other wildflowers were in full bloom along the way. Engineer mountain was also easily seen from the summit. The last 1.5 miles back to the trailhead was a bit wicked as we were caught in a thunderstorm with hail and cold temperatures down to the mid 40's. The front hit around 1pm and forced us to abort our attempt at Sultan Mountain...fatigue was setting in anyway. This was a great experience, even with the weather, and a great conditioning hike.
