French, Frasco and Casco Date Climbed: Jul 31, 2008
Beautiful day. We could have spent all day up there. Fun climb but a long hike out on the road at the end. We never saw anyone else except those on Elbert.
French, Frasco BM & Casco Date Climbed: Sep 20, 2008
A great solo from North Fork Lake. Blue skies & sun, sleet, more blue skies, whiteout, blue skies and thunder snow....an interesting finish to the official summer season.
The end of the trifecta (Casco and Frasco). Interesting views of the back side of Elbert. And if you looked really hard you might see summiters on Elbert.
Hiked up South Halfmoon Creek, over a few inches of packed snow. South slopes above treeline were completely clear. We left the road early and bushwacked through the willows, then up the easy South slope. Finished with a traverse over to Frasco and Casco. http://www.ericjlee.com/Photos/071102%20FrenchMt/index.php
The river crossings were high and wet. The scree slope to the Casco/Frasco saddle was nasty. The traverse to French somewhat fun. All said it was a great outing. Also climbed Casco on this trip.
Route Climbed: ridge from Casco, Frasco Date Climbed: August 2004
Lovely approach from the west. Summited Casco Peak first. Fun ridge traverse from Casco to Frasco, quick and easy after there. Bombarded by hail on the return. A large church group from Texas climbed French Mtn earlier in the summer - I think they came up from the east side, which is shorter and easier.
