| Climbed Iowa Peak and Emerald Peak after summiting Missouri Mountain from Missouri Gulch. After climbing Emerald descended to the lakes in Pine Creek Basin and returned back over Elkhead Pass. Nice hike, gorgeous weather, great views. | ||

| Combined Emerald with Silver King from the Rockdale 4WD TH below Clohesy Lake, which is by far the shortest route for this remote peak. The loose scree on the south slopes was annoying, but there is a remnant of a miner's trail to follow here and there. | ||

| Started from the Missouri Gulch TH at 6AM. I made good time to Elkhead and forgot how beautiful upper Pine Creek is. Climbed Emerald, which had great views of some seldom visited areas, and then on to Iowa before returning via Missouri. Returned to the TH at 10:58AM for 4:58 RT. The trail on Missouri is much improved over when I did it 9 years ago. | ||

| This was my second climb of Iowa & my first climb of Emerald. We climbed Missouri first and then over Iowa to Emerald. Then back through Elkhead Pass to the Missouri Gulch trailhead. My first climb of Iowa was 8-5-89 along with Missouri. My third climb of Iowa, also with Missouri was 8-17-96. I got Emerald a second time by itself on 5-26-02. | ||

| Nice hike from Missouri. The views of the surrounding peaks and the golden aspens in the valley below were stunning. I'm glad I did these two. 6hrs RT from below Clohesy Lake TH. | ||

| We hiked over from Missouri to Iowa and Emerald. Took about 90 minutes to reach Emerald from Missouri. Beautiful views and you really feel as if you are all alone up there. We decided to descend Emerald to the southwest as shown in Roach's book towards some mine ruins above Pear Lake. This was absolutely terrible. That side of the mountain is nothing more than a pile of slag. There is nothing solid. Everything moves. We had to be very careful on the way down not to get hurt. If I had to do it again I would never descend this way. I'd either go back to Iowa and descend the West Ridge or even back to Missouri. | ||

| Lightening at 9 am, then on an off all day made this an interesting outing in the mountains. The west ridge requires a short class 4 move if you dont avoid a notch near the summit. You can avoid it and keep the route class 2. Ran from Iowa to Emerald and back to the Iowa Missouri saddle in 45 mins to beat a storm. Ouch! | ||

| Climbed these two after Missouri, then headed over to Oxford and Belford. Long day. I'll agree with the comment below, Emerald may have been the most fun of all 5 peaks climbed today. Some nice scrambling in spots that the other peaks were lacking. | ||

| Emerald is a very nice peak - off the beaten path and in a fine setting. The slopes up to the Missouri-Iowa saddle from the basin were not ideal - heading up to the Iowa-Emerald saddle might be a better idea. | ||
