| This was a blast of an attempt! I hiked up the snow below First Divide and found my way up to the base of Steel. A gorgeous frozen nameless lake was at it's base on the east side. I started making my ascent up the east slope. Almost made it to the main ridge...but nasty cornices on the ridgeline and summit discouraged me. White Mountain was stunning to the north, and Stone was equally as cool to the east. I'll conquer this one next summer! |
