MiguelVieiraFrom Donner Pass  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 9, 2009

Hiked from the Donner Pass PCT trailhead near Sugar Bowl. The first few miles through the ski area were unimpressive, but the scenery got much better after that. A fun, quick scramble to get to the top. Tinker Knob from Donner Pass trip report with pictures.

Fun hike but no views at all on account of the smoky California wildfires of 2008. If Tahoe is usually visible from this trail, I couldn't see it.

Great hike along the PCT from Soda Springs. Hiked this along with Anderson Peak. Smoke still in the air from the fires up north. Awesome views of Granite Chief and the Truckee basin.

Granite Chief and Tinker Knob dayhike from Squaw Valley. Nice day, a bit windy. Tinker was a better hike than Granite - better views, no ski lifts, and farther in the range.

Peak BaguetteMy first summit register  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 9, 2006

This was the first summit register that I ever signed. Lingering joy from signing register helped whilst being nibbled to death by mozzies on my descent. Climbed from Squaw Valley Firehouse.

Scrambled up the east slope from the PCT. Took a nap on top and got roused by a thunderstorm. Booked it back to the Benson Hut to wait it out.

Found myself in Truckee with an unexpected day off. This was a great hike. Very easy. The wind offered some decent resistance however. Views were great. I like the cairns on the summit. I Did this peak along with Anderson. The trail sign distance overstate the mileage. From the Mt. Judah trail junction my GPS measured about 5 miles while the signs say it is 6 miles.

Matthew HollimanCouple of February visits...  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 3, 2007

My first visit was back on Feb 15th, 2004, one of the earlier SPS peaks I did that year while chasing a record of 100+ SPS peaks in a year: Dayhike/snowshoe with Bob out of Squaw Valley. Not much in the way of views that day.

Came back in Feb 2007 (Feb 3rd, to be precise) to again dayhike it with Bob, this time from the north out of Donner Pass as part of a long hike linking up Donner Peak, Mt. Judah, Anderson Peak, this one, and Mt. Lincoln. Much better views this time around.

My 8X for this nice Northern Sierra summit. Climbed also Anderson Peak, Mt. Judah, and Donner Peak. My 4X Old Donner Pass Grand Slam, a trip organized via the Internet. I placed another register book, the ones there being full. Account and more photos seen at the THOUSAND PEAKS website at http://webs.lanset.com/pyamagata.
