lizrdboyFather's Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 17, 2007

Father's day hike with Dad and girlfriend. Perfect, calm, 70 degree day. No other hikers on the mountain. The original plan was Sierra Blanca, but we took our time, enjoyed the day, and made it down before lunch. Blanca will still be there next month...

Lookuot Mountain is a fun climb with great views and lots of wildlife. We saw and heard elk and many squirrels. We also saw Ice Springs, which was beautiful!

rayraySecond attempt, first summit  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 13, 2007

Had to abort the first attempt a couple of weeks ago due to T-storms. Had good wx today with moderate temps. Ascended via USFS Trails 15 and 25, descended via "The Face" and "The Boneyard" ski lift slopes. Absolutely breathtaking views from the summit!

weeds19On the way up  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 30, 2002

I've been near the summit multiple times while skiing at Sierra Blance, but on this trip I actually tagged the summit on the way to the top of the highest peak in Southern NM.

gruntNot this time
Date Climbed: Jul 16, 2006

Drove up from El Paso, where I live, in hopes of summitting Lookout and Sierra Blanca. When I caught my first glimpse of Sierra Blanca at 7am, clouds were already forming. Not a good sign. Although I wasn't in a storm yet, I turned around after about two hours on the trail due to threatening clouds and a screaming headache.

great day and a great climb, the only clouds were distant over whitesands, and there was very little wind.

First of many times up. A nice, easy alternative to Sierra Blanca if heavy snow, storms or 40+ MPH winds prevent passage to Sierra.

What a beautiful day. Cloudy so it remained cool with absolutely no wind. It was earily quite. You could hear the Elk buggling from a long way away. A few sprinkles on the way down but not enough to get out the raincoat.
