| Started at 5:25am at the East Fork of the Bear River TH. Followed trail to Allsop Lake and ascended the peak via the "Northeast Ridge via Allsop Lake" route. I think the scenery in this drainage is amazing. I saw a moose and startled a herd of over 40 mountain goats. Most of the way the going was easy but there were two spots in quick succession in the middle of the couloir that gave me some trouble. They involved big step ups in an area of extremely loose rock. I sent so many rocks flying in that couloir that I can't imagine doing that portion of the hike with another person. I was pleasantly surprised by the stability of the rock above the couloir. Back at the car by 4:30pm. Very pleasant hike. Only saw 2 people heading in as I was heading out. | |

| Instead of the couloir, opted for "the low saddle at the far right of the ridge extending down from the summit" as described in Joseph Bullough's route description. Fun and steep the rest of the way to the top. Lots of XL boulders ready to fly on this route. Summit views at sunrise were amazing! Skeeters were a fifth what they were 2 weeks ago near Amethyst. No people around anywhere near the divide. | |
