this was one of the first mountains I climbed, I must have been 7. I've climbed it twice since, both times in winter conditions.

Tried to get to the summit of Red Mountain today but had to turn around about 400 vertical feet from the top because of very high winds. I was crawling on my hands and knees when I got blown over by a large gust of wind. At that point I decided to turn back. Even though I did not make it the top I was still pleased with my accomplishment being that it has only been six weeks since I had surgery to reconstruct my ACL. Anyway another great day up in the mountains.

This is a good mountain for locals who only have a day to get out. It has good access and is doable in all seasons, and is skied down in winter by some locals.

Been up Big Red now around 6 times solo.

Started out at the gate just below tree line. Hiked all the way out to Table Mountain and back. Great views and first climb in Montana
