| The full moon was an awesome beacon tonight. I arrived at the trail head about 11:30 pm, and did the whole hike without a flashlight. Amazing night time views of Colorado Springs. I could see the headlights of people driving up and down Gold Camp Road from the summit. Really cool night time hike. | ||

| First time up this "mountain" (unranked unfortunately). Great place to take low-altitude vacationers to stand on the summit of a named peak! | ||

| DWRich | My first Mt. Cutler ![]() Date Climbed: May 31, 2009 | |
| My first Colorado summit; obviously, one of the easiest. Took my wife, who is not very experienced, hoping that she'll be into it. Took a bunch of gear for training weight. Was very surprised by how many dogs without leashes we saw. Beautiful views, and ran into a few people that were pointing out various peaks and routes that can be taken. Wondered whether these people were some of the people that I so enjoy reading about within SummitPost or ListofJohns. We did the main trail up/down, and was pleasantly surprised how well my wife did, and how much she enjoyed it. Thanks to all those guys, particularly shanricky, cftbq, beginnerhiker, and csmcgranahan for their work and their writings. | ||

| Drove down from Denver to hike Cutler with a singles group and some of their dogs. It was my first time hiking anywhere in the Springs area. The trail was pretty icy, and there was a thin layer of snow from the previous day. | ||

| Another quick storm up the rocks of the east face. Beautiful day. Met another hiker at the top of the rock face who seemed willing to give this route a try--a first. | ||

| Dashed up the trail after coming back from Muscoco Mtn., as the clouds were dissipating and the snow was ending. The trail was already melting off in places facing south or west, but the lower trail, facing north, was still covered with new snow. Met one other hiker going up as I west down. | ||

| Amazingly sunny, warm January day. Luckily we wore our Yak Trax because a good part of the trail is north-facing and in the canyon and slicker than snot. Sadly, hiking this trail is a lesson in lack of human consideration for one another. Despite a large sign instructing humans to leash their dogs, off leash dogs were running rampant, making for difficult going for us and our leashed canines. The dog crap on the sides of this narrow trail was so thick it was like walking an open sewer. The worst was yet to come. At the top of the mountian, numerous trees had been cut by vandals to make some type of bonfire. These selfish swine apparently do not understand the issue with trying to light a fire with green wood. The damage brought tears of rage to my eyes. Back to the positives: The sun burned warm, the sky was blue, the wind wispered through the pine boughs...and the iced-over Seven Falls was breathtaking. | ||
