| Went to the jumpoff in January with rime frost covering all the trees. Spectacular 1,000 ft cliff covering in ice. White covered mountains, vast rugged jungle wilderness and 80 mile visibility gave me a long lasting impression that day. This started me on exploring all the high mountains of the south. Very nice! | |

| We hiked it via Alum Cave and then taking The Boulevard back to the AT. We took the side trail to The Jumpoff. The Jumpoff is very very impressive. | |

| To the top and over to the jump-off, which is a truly awe inspiring sight that definitely rivals Charlie's Bunion. Very easy little side hike off of the AT on the way to Le Conte or the Bunion. | |

| So apparently I bagged this peak 8 months ago with Charlie's Bunion and did not realize it. I had no idea that it was actually a named mountain until I decided I wanted to bag Kephart and saw that it's location was on the AT between Newfound Gap and Charlie's Bunion. Interesting to find out I've already hiked it. | |

| icewater was empty except for two guys, but later heard that kephart shelter was filled with 14, good thing we decided to stay. | |

| Death march '02 while my boys were cooking dinner at IceWater, I mosied over and bagged Kephart.. I think we only had 12 more miles (Tri-Corner) That was a really LONG day. | |

| Beautiful climb and well worth it. Several lookout points offer great views. However, neither the AT nor the Boulevard trail actually go over the true summit of Mt. Kephart. If you're a peak bagger its important to know that the trails split prior to reaching the summit. | Climbed solo on my birthday in conjunction with LeConte and Charlies Bunion. Started at Newfound Gap and used Boulevard and AT. Quite a bit of snow on the trail and did not see a soul the entire day, extremely rare for the Smokies. As a bonus, saw 3 elk while driving out of the park towards Cherokee. A most excellent birthday. | |

| I've hiked over Mount Kephart a number of times since I turned 16 in 1974. I was hoping to get some nice photos of the vistas on this trip, but the weather did not cooperate and I was faced with fog, mist, and thick clouds. It means I'll have to return as soon as I can. | |
