Nice, easy hike to the top for beautiful views. The forest was littered with gorgeous flowers. Met a group of fantastic folks. Couldn't have picked a better day and a better hike. Thanks Alan and Aaron.

Climbing Marble Mountain was wonderful. The tundra was grassy and soft, full of wildflowers. Views of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo mountain range were spectacular, and the SP climbing group was terrific.

I enjoyed this peak immensely, and I'm already looking forward to next year's SP gathering.

Really, what can make a peak ascent in beautiful high country more fun than having excellent company? Sitting in the warm sun on the summit snacking and chatting with fellow SPers made for a fantastic morning. (Afterall, the last of our group reached the summit at about 10:30, right?) What a fantastic day! I enjoyed the pizza & bear at Pizza Madness, too!

2009 SP Summer Gathering climb, hung out on the summit for over 2 hrs, what better place to hold an SP member "summit" than on a summit! Thanks to Aaron for putting this together.

Climbed via the NE ridge (Class 1). Awesome views-nice reward for not much effort. Biggest reward was sharing the experience with 20 of my SP peers at the extremely successful 2009 SP Summer Gathering. One of the nicest days I've had in the mountains!

Date Climbed: Jul 23, 2005

We took the Rainbow Trail to the Marble Mountain Trail which goes up Hudson Creek. The trail peters out at timberline, so you just make your way as best you can to the southeast ridge and then to the summit. Great views of the Crestones.

shknbken.e. ridge winter ascent  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 28, 2009

The best time to climb Marble is in winter on a nice day as you will enjoy a stunning view of the Crestones that few get a chance to see. This was probably the most rewarding view I have seen on a winter summit. We were also lucky that there was a recent warming trend to solidify the snow a bit, so the trail breaking wasn't too bad. The winds were pretty stiff though! See TR.

Luckily there were old tracks through the unconsolidated sugar snow. This is a great, safe winter route.

Woke up at the South Colony TH to -10temps and no wind. Cold as hell, but it warmed up to 37 degrees as the day went on.

I always feel good getting a thirteener in dead winter. This one has really good views, especially from Point 13,161.

Climbed with Alan and attm. The wind and snow made things much more challenging than I expected.

Man was I tired on this one. I didn't think there would be that much snow so I didn't bring my snowshoes. Mistake on that but I somehow made it. Fun climb though.

Whew! Don't take this peak for granted in winter. The fierce winds and cold made this day a challenge, but it was all worth it. The drive up the road (twice) made this trip a true adventure.
