| Hooked up with thruhiker Craig H. for a great scramble up excellent granite slabs to a summit block which yielded stunning views of Titcomb Basin, Gannet Peak, the Tetons and sweeping glaciers. web album here: http://picasaweb.google.com/Kent.McLemore/WindRiverRange2009# | ||

| My nine year old son Frank attained his highest point yet on this fun climb. We were camped in lower Titcomb Basin and went up the boulder filled couloir to SE of Mistake Lake, then up and over rocky knob and down to saddle. Descent was into Indian Basin. Fun climb and very proud of my little mountaineer! | ||

| I scrambled up the SW buttress during a five day backpack in 97. I had the summit to myself, and what a great place to hang out. Two nights later I was camped out at Mistake Lake, and during a terrible hailstorm, I heard screams from above. The next morning a helicopter came flying in and lowered rescue rangers high on the peak. It turns out the day before a woman had broken her leg, and she spent the night alone on the peak. The storm was very fierce that night, and it was eerie to hear her scream. I was in a great spot to watch the rescue unfold. It was 1997, before everyone had cellphones, but fortunately someone had one to call the rescue in. | ||

| few times in the late 90's got caught once in a storm below the summit. Ice axe was buzzing, sparks coming off gaitors, clients trying kill themselves. That was an interesting one | ||

| I agree with "pbogen" that the Wind Rivers is the best area in the lower 48. I haven't had the chance to bag many peaks in the area, and imagine Fremont is among one of the easier peaks, yet it is absolutely spectacular. After climbing a mixed rock/snow route, you summit the peak and find an enormous glacier filling in the gaps between peaks on the other side. That's got to be a unique view - no glaciers on the approach, but glaciers as far as the eye can see once you summit. | ||

| Summited as part of a three day backpack trip into Indian Basin. Excellent scramble up Southwest Buttress. This is a fantastic summit with inspiring views all around. After two trips to the Winds, I'm convinced that this is the most spectacular place in the entire lower 48. | ||

| The face is perfect for a strenuous ascent and the view is spectacular. We were so fatigued by the end of the descent that we almost didn't make it back to camp. All in all, a great day and a peak I want to do again. | ||

| First trip to the awesome Wind River Range. Climbed via SW buttress from a camp in Indian Basin. We were on the mountain 165 years to the day after John Fremont. (He summited on the 15th). The view from the top to the glacier below was stunning. A squall off to the west added drama. See Photo Album Here | ||

| camped in Indian Basin (highly recommended). Managed to scramble up the southwest buttress in between rain showers. Fun scramble but limited views due to clouds. The trail from Elkhart park is endless with an incredible number of ups and downs. | ||

| Came in solo to clear my mind before school started again. Great experience and recomended for everyone at least once in their life. Camped at some of the lakes to the west of Island Lake to avoid any signs of people. Worked great didn't see a single person for days even though I was near the immensly popular and gorgeous Titcomb Basin. Climbed to Indian Basin and then up the Buttress. Very fun scrambling, saw numerous marmonts. Hope to be able to come back and do Gannett someday. | ||
