Nice snowshoe hike, though the ridge walk from Uppsspitze was exciting due to a hurricane-style wind. Face half frozen! I was kind of crouching in the wind, with crampons and ice axe for security. Right after I got down a ways, the storm abated and the sun came out. Figures!
Daniel, Upsspitze and northwest ridge Date Climbed: Oct 19, 2008
Nice loop from Ehrwald up to Daniel, Upsspitze and the lonely northwestern ridge to Hebertaljoch. Back to GrĂ¼ne Ups and - after a cool beer at the Tuftalm, back to the car
ascent on Gruener Ups route, descent on normal route.
we had some fresh snow on the route, but it was no problem at all, just a little more strenious. On the summit I met the most meddlesome alpine coughs ever, that tried to steel my sandwich.
Stopped at Upsspitze (2.332m), because of ugly snow conditions on the ridge to Daniel. Perfect weather and nobody (except of birds) on the mountain. Great views into every direction.
