a fun scramble with a super short approach. The traverse to whyte looked pretty nasty, maybe next time.

A slog with a tiny bit of fun stuff at the end.

With no snow on the approach slopes, this was a tedious slog up to the Whyte-Niblock col. The scramble up to the summit was short but fun. The incredible views from the col on up made the junk down lower seem worth it.

Solo climb from the Chateau Lake Louise with an exciting trip over to bag Mt Whyte which had some tough pitches and route finding

A fun escape from the crowds of Lake Louise. I climbed Niblock, traversed to Whyte, then took a tough descent towards the Plain of Six Glaciers.

My wife and I attempted to climb this on our honeymoon. We got turned back at the col between Niblock and Whyte do to a thunderstorm.

No snow on the route, just lots of scree. Very nice views. Started to drizzle near the summit--I wasn't looking forward to slippery rocks on the way down, but it turned out ok.

Climbed in terrible weather conditions, snowstorms and lightning. The scrambling terrain seemed pretty interesting on Niblock, not what I was expecting. The views were good, of what we could see through the clouds.

Perhaps the most difficulty this day was elbowing my way out of the Lake Louise parking lot up to Lake Agnes (good views of Aberdeen and Haddo). After that, it is a relatively easy ascent to Niblock. Then I proceeded over the long col to the cruxes of Whyte. You end up on the right side of the ridge at a 5.7 climb that you want a rope for if you plan on down climbing later (bad rock). This summit gives much better views of the Death Trap, Abbot Hut, Glacier Peak, Temple, Victoria, Lefroy, Collier, etc.

I then decided to scramble down the south slopes of Whyte to the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail. This route involves tremendous route finding and good judgment and is more dangerous in my opinion, then going back and down climbing to the pass between Whyte and Niblock.
