DeanEarly morning  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2008

Did Mt. St. Helena on the 20th and it seemed appropriate to stay in Vacaville for this one. Early morning expedition got me the summit and then we headed for Copernicus for number two.

DundeelSnow Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 13, 2009

Mix Canyon gate was closed. Made a quick walk in a blowing snow shower. The view was limited to about 300 feet. This was my second cohp for the day. Carpenter Hill in Sacramento was first.

Date Climbed: Dec 30, 2008

Surprising views. The entire snowtopped Sierra from Mt Lassen in the north down to Yosemite was in view, with the Central Valley and the SF Bay area hidden below in fog. Really nice for basically a drive up peak. Great views.

McCannster13th CA county highpoint  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 1, 2007

Thought I'd tick this one off my county highpoint list, so I made a side trip on my way back from Grass Valley. Gate was closed, so I jogged to the summit in 15 minutes. Clear views all the way across the valley, which was nice. Came back to the car to discover that the gate was not locked, just closed. That could have saved me a bit of time if I had drove, but it was nice to stretch my legs.

nikolaiclear day, incredible views

Could see the GG bridge, Sutter Buttes and a fantastic panorama of snow dusted sierras. Amazing views from this mountain-- I did not expect it to be so good.

Michael PerryVery nice quiet hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 29, 2006

Made the drive to Vacaville to bag my second cohp. The gate on Mix Canyon was closed. Saw a few people heading up the trail, but they didn't seem to mind us. Walked around the whole fence around the peak before finding the USGS marker, thinking the highest point were the boulders on the western edge of the fence, overlooking Lake Curry. Even though it was hazy, I could see Mt Diablo, St. Helena, and faintly see Tamalpais and Downtown Sacramento.

Date Climbed: Feb 12, 2006

Bagged Mt. Vaca on the way back from Mt. Tam. Very impressive views . I was able to see 6 other county high point from the top(Mt. Tam, Mt. Saint Helena, Mt.Diablo, Snow Mountain, Lassen Peak and the Sutter Buttes. I really enjoyed the solitude unlike Mt. Tam.

cjrandallRoute Climbed: Road Date Climbed: June 29, 2004  Sucess!

Walked up from the main road, the gate was closed when I was there. Did this in a three-highpoint day that included Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, and Carpenter Hill in Sacramento County.

I completely circumnavigated tower 20 and also got on top of a couple boulder piles in the surrounding areas. The rock pile with the small cairn is probably the highest point.

Nothing stands out, it must have been easy!

Finished the arduous hike from the gate just in time to see a nice sunset and an indigo scarlet moorise over the Sacramento Valley

Dave DinnellRoute Climbed: Service Rd Date Climbed: Sep. 1982, & a number of times since.  Sucess!

Ran to the summit from pleasant valley rd. A nice 8-10 mile trip with friend and UC Davis runner Chuck Bruns. If you ignore the towers, there can be some amazing views on clear days.

Matthew HollimanRoute Climbed: Drove up the road Date Climbed: Dec 14, 2003  Sucess!

Like Bob said. Those last 50 feet were definitely the crux.

Bob BurdRoute Climbed: Drove to the summit Date Climbed: Dec 14, 2003  Sucess!

Ok, we had to walk the last 50 feet, but the gate for the last mile was open when Matthew and I drove up there. Weather in the Sierra was sucking, so we left early and bagged four county highpoints that day. A silly but fun exercise. Trip Report

This was a twofer CoHP day. I zipped over and tagged Mount Vaca after hitting Mount St. Helena earlier in the day. Could see Sacramento, but the views to the west were a bit hazy. I wonder if all those antennae are what has caused this twitch? ;-p
