| Lead by a Forestry Service friend on a cross-country day hike to the Beartooth Plateau. Approached from the Southwest, ate lunch on the shoulder of Lonesome Mountain, hoofed it over to Spirit Mountain for the view of Beartooth Peak... BEAUTIFUL. Hands down, the best single day of hiking I did all season while being employed in Yellowstone. A far cry from the crowded summits of YNP. I am grateful for the experience. | |

| Walked up from Jasper lake. Took longer than we thought it would - that plateau is Long....miles long! Ascended the slopes of 12,115 and crossed over to Spirit. Killer waterfall in the drainage between Spirit and 12,115. Saw many goats. | |

| Was there with b., great day on top-quality beartooth rock. Good exposure, decent gear, and no other parties were highlights of this alpine adventure. | |

| Climbed the Lunar Arete (III 5.7, about 12 pitches) and it felt long and strenuous for the grade. Some of the best rock I've climbed in the beartooths, especially up high. Not a route for the faint of heart, really. I was very happy that the summit was on the way to the descent! 17 hours car to car. | |

| From my camp at Frosty Lake, I tried to contour around and reach the summit plateau, but steep snow and being solo persuaded me to instead decend 1,000' to Goat and Sheep Lakes then climb up the west side of the vally to the plateau. From there an easy walk up to the summit. What a spectacular mountain! | |

| Ascended Drop Off Mountain then walked over to Spirit from camp at Albino Lake with friends Ty and Ben. Climbing either of these peaks from the west is a simple, straightforward matter, and an easy way to get great views of the Eastern Beartooths. The flatness of the summits and gentle nature of the west-side slopes tends to disguise the fact that these are truly HUGE peaks. | ||
