squickRoute: Unknown  Sucess!

We stayed the first night at a hut a few hours from the entrance and from there went up to another which was just below the summit through a long valley, full of plants. We were making good time so decided to go up to the summit that evening and arrived just before sunset, then stayed at the hut just below. We had porters/guides, which made it quite a bit easier!

Nigel LewisTwice

I soloed this peak from Shipton's camp prior to attempting the Nth Face Std route, whilst my partner lay moaning in the tent with mild altitude sickness.
I did it again with my wife and another friend 4 years later as part of a circuit of the main peaks.

alexclimbHappy New Year!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 1, 2007

Did Lenena from Naro Moru. The same route for descent. We were on the summit just in time to meet the first sunrise of the New Year. Very beautiful place. And great acclimatization before Kilimanjaro

Date Climbed: Jan 19, 1993

Still the mountain that holds the fondest place in my heart. Caroline and I took a stroll up this mountain many years ago completely unaware of what we were doing and what trouble we could get into. But as it turned out, everything was fine and we had the most amazing time. I was successful to Point Lenana (which is not actually the top). However, I am pretty sure I will head back to Kenya someday to tag the real summit

Date Climbed: Aug 31, 1989
One of my finest mountaineering experiences, together with my girlfriend at the time.
Incredible, how many people failed because they simply did not bother for acclimatization. I loved the birdwatching in the rainforest and the moorland :-)

DigglerRoute Climbed: scramble from Austrian Hut Date Climbed: 7 January, 2006  Sucess!

Did this with Peter during Gordon & my rest day prior to heading out for Nelion & Batian. Enjoyable scramble, with fantastic views! Could basically see our entire approach from the bandas at Chogoria gate, as well as Giants' Billiards, Mugu Hill, Gorges Valley, etc. Summited shortly before sunset, after a leisurely 1-hr. hike from Austrian Hut. Thanks Peter!

This was our acclimatication trip before we go to the Kilimanjaro.

And i can say it was it very good idea to do this that way

GuiltyRoute Climbed: Chogoria Route Date Climbed: August 2, 2002  Sucess!

Ran out of money, had only enough money for two days to stay in the park and do Lenana. One of the most adventurous two days I had while in Africa. While hiking to the top I video tape the landscape along the way. The terrain is like going up in the Sierra's.

NadiosRoute Climbed: Southern route from Top hut Date Climbed: 2004 12 02  Sucess!

An easy scramble on rocks and scree and some short parts of simple climbing. Ice and snow in some places. Excellent views of Mt Kenya from the summit.
