Great day for a hike. Sunshine, 60 degree weather. Alone on the trail. Nice views in all directions.

Date Climbed: Feb 15, 2009

Made it to the top of Fiske. Pouring rain throughout the entire day and could not see anything. Clouds covered all the surrounding peaks. Was a nice little hike though, very muddy trail and was extremely cold at the summit. Could only stay a few minutes on top. Looking forward to doing this again on a better day

Date Climbed: Feb 14, 2009

Went up there with aahz and his wife. We thought it would be wet and muddy and it would maybe rain later in the day. We were prepared for anything, but not snow! There was giant snow flakes down to the 2,500 foot level and on and off near the summit all day. Quite a surreal hike and a pretty mountain, I'll have to get back there when the weather is nice to see it in a different light...

Matt WorsterChilly day!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 4, 2009

Ground frozen all the way to the top, and even across to Lowery and back before it thawed. Slick stuff on the way down! Forgot all my trail tools at home, so did not do any trimming like last year. Flat light day, pictures were crummy, but I really like driving up that valley.

Uneventful jaunt up the Blue Ridge Trail. Lots of clouds, but only a couple rain drops while sitting on top.

Nice hike. Noticed the trail work. Also I.D. large-flowered fiddleneck (rare and endangered).

I climbed this peak with my buddy PJ. It was a long, windy, and dusty day. But worth it. It was a pretty hazy day, but we could still see Mt Saint Helena and Cobb Mountain to the west, Snow Mountain (which still has snow) and Mt. Konocti. We could barely make out the Sutter Buttes to the west, but no Sierras. All in all a great day.

No, there's no place to run for a hang glider, and how would you get one up here? Thermals aren't too good, either, I'd think. Ask the BLM, it looks like official work. Maybe for a bench or picnic table. Tough to get just here for most hikers, so some wimpy civilized thing, I'd think.

I'm thinking its maybe a launch point for paragliders or hang gliders? Or maybe just a resting spot quien sabe.

Dingus MilktoastMore Trail Work  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 1, 2008

Hiked to the summit today with Kaity Milktoast. We did a fair bit of trail work and brush cutting going up and coming back down. Trail is mostly open with all the 'force-off-trail' obstables all cleared. Got a lot of the bushes too, but not all. Kaity was a champ. Repeat performance at Ibera's.

Dingus MilktoastTrail Work
Date Climbed: Feb 29, 2008

Knew I'd be in the area today so I did some trail work up to the first creek. Cleaned out all the deadfall to the first crossing, logs up to 7 inches in a few cases. Dinner at Iberas in Guinda, an ice cold bud, a basket of chips, hot salsa and Mrs. Ibera's carnitas tacos, mmmmmmm. Almond Festival is tomorrow, Mar 1, so I'm going back with the kid for some more trail work, then to the Festival. Adios muchachos!

What great views from the top. Looks like winter had its way. Not to bad, just 3 or 4 trees that made you leave the trail. up-date. i guess its good to go now.

Wow amazing what a few weeks of winter will do. That big wind storm in Jan. really hammered the trail. I headed up today in advance of the storm, the upper half of the pk, shrouded in fog. Rain caught me at the 2nd gully crossing the all the downed trees had taken the fire out of me. That ground gets super slick in the rain and I tumbled twice hiking back down. Raining heavily by the time I got back to the car. Summit denied but I enjoyed it anyway.

Maybe 20-25 major and minor obstacles on the trail from Cache Creek. Fallen trees and thick brush. Brush cut from a ridge saddle about half way, maybe they are putting something in?

We hiked from Cache Creek. Awesome views. We could see Shasta, Lassen, the Crystal Range, and more. However, lots of downed trees made the trail a little less polite. Class 2 tree hazards on an otherwise straightforward trail makes the ticks a little more likely to show up; we noticed a number of them (no deer ticks though).

Took a nice New Year stroll up Fiske under blue skies. Sat on the summit for almost 2 hours, no other visitors. Nice way to kick off the new year. Trail is in good shape these days.
