| Grampahawk | Knocked 'em off the list ![]() Date Climbed: Nov 10, 2009 | |
| I've been leaving some of the peaks that don't have great views toward the end of my list. But the weather was great for November- 40 degrees, sunny, and no wind so it was a nice hike. | ||

| I took the Hancock Notch Trail to the Cedar Brook Trail to the loop trail, going up the North Peak first, then over to the South Peak, where I stuck my foot in a huge mud puddle. I think I drove straight to the trailhead from NJ, and then went back to NJ after I was done to go to work. That's hardcore. | ||

| Tahawus | Hancock, North Peak and South Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 4, 2007 | |
| Climbed via the Hancock Loop Trail from the Kangcamagus Highway. A very plesant summer hike even in nearly 80 degree temptures. There was a big group on Hancock's summit ledge so there wasn't even a place to sit down. Found more solitude on South Peak. | ||

| nartreb | rainy day ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 2, 2008 | |
| After a good dousing just before noon, enjoyed a foggy but rain-free walk in the woods. Weather kept the crowds to a minimum, but there were a couple of big groups. Returned to car just before a big deluge. Approach trails were a lovely stroll, the brook is wide enough to create a couple of small meadows full of flowers and birds. Got a bit nervous when the trail approached the slide, thinking the trail would go up it, which would have been interesting in the wet and slippery conditions. Will have to return and try the slide some (dry) day. I went up the north side and down the south, and was happy with that choice: lots of big stone and log steps on the north, which would have been jarring to descend. Lots of maintenance evident on the loop trail, but a lot of it was ineffective: logs directly across the trail that made no provision for runoff, and are already being undermined. Some mud holes on the ridge could use new log bridges too. | ||

| syzygy | South Side Still Snowy ![]() Date Climbed: May 18, 2008 | |
| Hiked in and camped just above Cedar Brook trail. Great soft camping up there. Next day summited via the South Peak first. The trail up had deep enough snow that we post-holed yet the terrain was bad enough that snowshoes weren't really a great option either. Trip between summits was also frustrating as it alternated between snow and not snow on the trail. Here snowshoes did help, though switching frequently was obnoxious. The trail down the North side was nearly free from snow. We were glad our choice of routes worked out so well. | ||

| A warm October day. It's a good thing it was warm too, since I slipped and fell into a creek on the way up. | ||

| dirth | Morning Loop Hike ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 6, 2007 | |
| Started hiking around 8:30 from the Kanc. Followed the typical "loop trail". 1:30 from the parking lot to the North peak. 25 minutes across to the South peak. 1:20 back to the parking lot. Done and driving home by 11:45 am. Very peaceful hike, the stream crossings are nice and there were great views south from the North peak. | ||

| Enapai | Hancock Loop via Hancock Notch and Ceder Brook Trails ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 27, 2006 | |
| Day hiked from the Kanc. Only saw two souls that seemed a bit lost (no gear and jeans). But it was a good day. Stream crossings were not a problem. Went up Hancock first then over to South Hancock. The climb up either is pretty steep. | ||

| Seth Maciejowski | Route Climbed: Northwest Slides Date Climbed: August 2000 ![]() | |
| Bushwhacked up from the east branch of the Pemi onto the big scree field just east of the northwest peak of Hancock. A somewhat arduous climb on the scree pops you out onto the east ridge where you bushwhack west to the the north summit and the trail. We continued on down to the south summit and down from there. A good alternative route - garaunteed solitude. | ||

| bewencher | Route Climbed: Cedar Brook Trail to Hancock Loop Trail Date Climbed: September 11, 2005 ![]() | |
| I hiked these peaks as part of Flags on the 48. Cedar Brook Trail was very gradual and seemed to have every root from the forest on it (watch your feet!). There were 7 stream crossings that were no problem because it's been so dry lately. But I'd hate to attempt them in the spring or whenever there is a lot of water coming off the mountains. The Loop Trail has supposedly been improved immensely over the past year according to those that I was hiking with. A lot of steps have been added and the loose material has been contained so it's not so slippery. Both peaks are wooded, but they also have outlook points with some great views (especially on North). The trail between the two peaks in narrow near North peak, but widens a bit near South. The trail down from South decended a lot of elevation in a very short amount of time, so it was quite steep. I preferred going down it rather than up, but my hiking partners thought the opposite. We had great weather for it and the trail heads were very accessible and well marked. Great hike, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing. | ||
