Date Climbed: Jul 3, 1992

Was so anxious to begin my vacation I hiked from Donner Pass to Anderson without sunscreen or adequate water (there was none on the trail). Hike and summit were great but I paid for it with a lobsteresque sunburn.

Started from Donner pass. Watched a helicopter set poles for the ski lifts at Sugar Bowl and then a nice cruz to the peak.

Matthew HollimanNorth Couloir  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 3, 2007

An enjoyable winter dayhike out of Donner Pass with Bob, tagging Donner Peak, Mt. Judah, Anderson Peak, Tinker Knob, and Mt. Lincoln. Great views and great weather the whole day.

The climb up the leftmost north couloir on Anderson Peak was by far the best part of the day. Moderately steep snow that was in absolutely perfect condition for kicking steps. Good fun.

rhyangMarch 2003  Sucess!

First "mountaineering" experience. Snowshoed up to the Benson hut with a more experienced buddy, who showed me how to kick steps in snow, and use a trekking pole for self-arrest and glissading (NOT recommended). We then kicked steps up the hard snow to the top of the peak and glissaded down. Scared the crap out of me :)

Date Climbed: Jun 24, 2006

Climbed up the NW face from the Benson hut. There was still plenty of snow on the face but none on top or the south side. Was a little sketchy without crampons.

JonodoRoute Climbed: NW Chute Date Climbed: Sept 10, 2005  Sucess!

Found myself near Truckee with an unexpected day off. A really beautiful day but a little windy. Fantastic views. The NW chute had a very short section of easy class 3 that was enjoyabe. I think the distances marked on trail signs are a bit off. By my GPS, it a about 3 miles from the Mt. Judah trail junction to Anderson Peak. The sign claims it is 4 miles.
