Dingus MilktoastBeautiful sping day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 17, 2008

Hiked up from the Cache Creek bridge on a beautiful spring day. Grass green, golden poppys blooming, lots of other wild flowers too. a watchful pair of scrub jays kept tabs on me and each other for the first half of the hike. A distant screech of a peregrin seemed to ward them off; they retreated to the lower reaches of the mountain. Trail is in fine shape, no pruning necessary. Sat on the summit for an hour responding to voice mails and dreaming of mouuntains both near and far. Could see all the way to Shasta though the rice burners were going full bore in Colusa county. A south wind filtered all that particute matter straight over Sacramento and points south.

brianhughesSouthwest Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 24, 2006

Climbed directly up the southwest ridge (see my photo for route information). Once on top, I hiked a few miles down the fire roads just about to Glascock Spring. Returned the same way.

Thanks to Dingus and anybody else for doing some bush whacking-- It was smooth sailing up to Cortina Ridge. All the trails on top were well traveled by quads and no trimming was necessary.

jakefrisbeeGood to get out  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 12, 2006

Ascended from the Cache Creek bridge. Descended via Billy's Hill. Wet, muddy and cold, but enjoyable. Had some snow showers when I was on top, then it turned to rain, then snow again. Lots of bear, cougar and deer tracks in the mud of the firebreak in "The Redlands." Saw three deer and a newt near the summit.

To return to my car, I started walking along HWY 16, attempting to hitchhike. After 45 minutes or so, the 25th car picked me up. A younger guy who said he lived in a house that I walked past (there's only 2 houses in the whole stretch...) gave me a ride for the final 2 miles. Nice guy! Thanks, dude!

I think I came to do Fiske again but the bridge was underwater so I did this route. Definitely another beautiful day in the coast range. Come explore this region, it's worth it.

First peak of the season. Although not a fantastic peak, the area is awesome, and it gave me a chance to get out of the house. It had been raining for the better part of a week and the ground was super muddy. I hope the mountain page encourages other to check this area out.
