The day was overcast which made the ascent more wintry. Still a wonderful day to be on a peak such as this. My first introduction rocky summits of this area.
Climbed this one with the IU Trekkers. A number of us have wanted to climb this mountain for several years. Nice area and gorgeous day. The group was led by my wife, Ms Ellen, who had climbed the mountain two weeks prior on a CMC outing. There is a trail, ribbons on the trees or a cairned route for most of the way and there's plenty of scrambling opportunities. The route circumvents the Long Scraggy ranch at its borders. The summit is a gas and it has a spectacular view of the South Platte Region. Saw sizeable bear tracks in the lingering snow-luckily this bruin was headed the opposite direction. Round trip was 6.6 miles, 1,900 feet of gain. This is a good one for getting in shape!
Nice hike. Stayed on the ridge most of the way to avoid the snow. Great hike to kill time. Seeing a lot of the Platte formations from the summit left me wanting to climb rock. I was surprised to see that there wasn't more growth in the area, especially since it has been years since the fire. Climbed with David Worthington. R.I.P. David. I miss you.
Colorado Mountain Club hike. We had a great hike. The weather was gorgeous, though it got pretty warm on the way down. We also made really great time on this one. We started at about 8:30 and got back to the cars at around 1:30. A few of us went to the true summit while the rest of the group stopped at an outcrop on the west side of the mountain.
With Chris Junda, Kathy, Heather M, Sarah T, Wes Go and Kurt Traskos. Started with the summit on the north and continued south on the ridge, beautiful sunny day, great scramble up many of the towers. Started at the Little Scraggly TH>

I had an enjoyable hike up Long Scraggy with Erin and John on Saturday. While a hike in Lost Creek would have been under clouds the whole day, we had sunshine and great views of the South Platte region.
