| From my tentsite at 10,500 ft near the Glacier Trail, I climbed to Blaurock Pass and then headed right along the ridge to the summit of Sunbeam Pk. The ascent from my tent to the summit took a little over three hours. New snow from a few days earlier still clung to the north facing rocks, but did not cause any real difficulities, even where the ridge narrows near the summit. The return to Blaurock Pass from the summit reduced the distance and time of the ascent by crossing snowfields; the descent took only 26 minutes, about half of what it took me to go up the ridge. The weather was perfect, sunny and mild with just a little breeze. I also climbed Mt Febbas (see entry). |
