Date Climbed: Nov 13, 2009

My wife and I hiked during a Crisp day. The snow was just right for gaiters and only saw Bow hunters on the way up and down. A very easy fun hike.

Climbed Little Water Peak this morning with Matt Van Horn. We started at 5:30 AM and had a nice hike up to the lake, although we did have to avoid human feces on the trail. Who are these people?? From the lake it is a mild bushwhack to the summit and we went through one of the most beautiful aspen forests I have ever seen. It was so green and didn't even seem real. The view from the top is fantastic and Matt had a grand idea that we would just head south and make our way down to the trail coming from Desolation Lake. In theory it sounded great, but it ended up being horrific as we got into thick stinging nettle, shrubs and various other types of bush. Once we were back on the trail we ran back to the trailhead and it was a lot of fun despite the route finding challenges.

Date Climbed: Mar 29, 2009

Approached from Mill D North, four laps of delicious storm skiing in Shangri-La and northwest face glades, then the visibility started to improve on the peak so we went there for some views and to check out the northeast face, which was probably too windloaded to ski. The winds picked up furiously, knocked down one of us, and gave all three of us a touch of frostbite so we got off the peak and ridge and went to some trees to stick our faces in our coats for a few minutes, then skied the south face.

Nice skiing peak, northwest side has nice powder stashes when things are meager elsewhere, south side is a great line with new snow, northeast side is notorious avalanche path, I'll attach a photo showing one.

Date Climbed: Nov 28, 2008

Headed up to this peak via Mill D, upsetting a couple bow hunters on the way up. Once reaching the ridge beyond Dog Lake called for snow shoes. Hard crusty 2" snow with lots of loose snow under. Pretty much in the clouds while on the peak, then it cleared up a bit once getting back to the lake. About a mile from the Mill D trailhead it looked as though one of the hunters was successful as there was blood, hair and entrails all over the trail. About 1/4 miles from the trailhead I ended up sharing the trail with a couple cow moose for a while. Fun, interesting day.

Another warm, perfect, early summer morning, and another Wasatch peak summited in mine and fellow hike freak Justin's series of early morning adventures. This area is truly beautiful. We saw deer and a mamma Moose with her baby in the meadows this morning.

Date Climbed: Feb 15, 2007

02/15/07 With Brent, Lana and Kim. Whiteout conditions along with sub-20 temps and winds gusting to 30 mph made for interesting going.

02/03/07 Blue skies but strong ridge-top winds. We made a loop with various members of the WMC. Mill D North to Dog Lake, Little Water Peak, south along a long ridge line and down to Desolation Lake, then out to the original trail. Thanks to our leader, Mohammed A.

I decided to give Little Water Peak a try after climbing Reynolds Peak. If I had been smart I would have come back later with snowshoes. I sank up to my knees with every step. It took me a while but I made it to the top. I could even see the Uintas Mountains quite clearly. I saw one other hiker on the way out. It did feel a little odd to be hiking alone on such a popular trail.
