| The day started out nice. So I followed the ridge over to "Sprint" Peak and "Beacon" Peak for a little more. The dark clouds moved in and that was it for the day. | |

| Hiked the old 4wd road from Riflesight. My wife and two dogs came along as well. Great views with an inversion layer over the Winter Park area. Also hiked Mt. Epworth. | |

| Temperatures at start of day were -11F in Golden, -17F in Boulder. But it was warmer up in the James Peak Wilderness. Little wind and no precipitation made for a surprisingly comfortable day. Deep snow erased trail forks. After losing the trail, soft snow made the going slow in places. Five hours to summit from Moffat Tunnel East trailhead. Went with Chris R (not an SP member). | |

| Impressive views and a great time, despite getting lost once on the way there, and once on the way down. Temperatures around freezing with a strong, steady wind. Beautiful skies and a great sunset from Heart Lake. Snow is rock-hard and crampons were very definitely useful on the descent. | |
