| My girlfriend came with me in this mountain journey ,we started from El Cable with excellent weather conditions. We were advised there was snow in La Canalona, so we had ice-axe and crampons with us, and we had to use them in the highest point of La Canalona. Great views from the summit. Just lovely! | |

| I've summitted Pena Vieja on many occasions, here are some specials. First in '81 with my family and Alison (who had never been anywhere near a mountain before.) I experienced my first mar de nubes at approx. 2,400m. Our descent down the Canal de Vidrios & into the cloud became v. interesting. Our path stopped at the top of one of those desperate gulleys, with my father about to abseil into the abyss, I spotted a cairn off to the left in a window thru the mist. Safely in Aliva, looking back up at the soaring, smooth, vertical walls of our aborted descent gully, disappearing into the clouds, I couldn't help but feel we had so nearly become another statistic of this great & noble mountain. How we all owe those windows in the mist! May 1989 - managed to reach within 100m of the summit on telemark skis. May 1993 - skinned to the summit on touring skis with "Guti". August 1993 - via the Espelon Franceses, led by Nick Longland and Chris Cullen. June 2000 - stopping 20m short of the summit on snowshoes with Marcus Linell and electricity buzzing around. | |

| Nadie and me climbed Peña Vieja from El Cable. We had taken the first cableway of the day (9:00 AM) so at 11:50 AM we were on the summit. We firstly descended slow, doing a stop for having lunch so at 4:20 PM we were at El Cable again. We rarely ran across my friend Pablo, who lives in Villamantilla, Madrid. He had taken a cableway with his wife Marta and their 3 years' old daughter. | |

| My father and me had gone to Refugio de Aliva the day before. So we past the night there and started hiking the next morning. Past Minas de la Providencia, ascended the steep slopes of Canal del Vidrio, reached Coteras Rojas, Collado de la Canalona, traversed the big stone quarry and reached the summit of Peña Vieja. We descended to Collado de la Canalona, reached La Vueltona, Horcadina de Covarrobres, Collado de J Toribio and back to Refugio de Aliva. We past another night in the hut and climbed Pico Tesorero the next day. | |
