| Four of us hiked this as an SAHC (Southern AZ Hiking Club) outing, coming in from the north. The forest road is brutal: it took us 90 minutes to cover about a dozen miles. The hike itself was easy enough, following the "bovine ridge" route - the slightly off-set NNW ridge starting at some cow tanks. The big beasts have managed to bash in some paths to within 400 feet of the top, and the paths in places help, but it's still a lot of loose rock, cactus, cow poo and steep sections. The topo map is in error: the summit is very clearly the south end of the smallish ridge, a good 10-15 higher than the northern points. Trip report |
