| A tedious hike due to all the different terrain awagher and I had to cover: the wash pebbles, all the scree, and to top it off the knee-deep snow in the last 400 vertical feet to Inyo. We started at 6:15am from my 2WD parked car at 4,400 feet. We're making pretty good time until we hit the sugary knee-deep snow in the flat sections above the Inyo/Keynot saddle. Took over an hour to plow through 400 vertical feet of unconsolidated, sugary snow. I got to Inyo's summit at 1:14pm. Great views of the Sierra, though. Left the summit a few minutes before 2:00pm and were back at the car by 5:20pm (approx 11 hrs roundtrip). I second what awagher said: don't plan to hike this peak again! |
