| Yes, I am crazy for climbing this mountain in August. Maybe even a little suicidal! But what a great day. The temp was about 110 degrees F, the park road that goes past the mountain was closed because of flood damage, and the trail? What trail? So I was the only person around for many miles. In fact, I was the first person to sign the summit log in three months! I ran out of water on the way back and I could barely drive home because I was getting really dehydrated. I bowed to the creosote gods and prayed for rain, but to no avail. In the end, all the suffering was worth it for the awesome views and the beautiful rock formations in the surrounding washes. |
