Date Climbed: May 15, 2008

I stumbled to the base of the mountain near the summer homes, a couple hours after I finished up my last final and put up a tent around 10pm. Woke up early and carried my skis through the last bit of dry ground til the snow began. Skinned the rest of the way up and had a great corn festival on the way down!

Climbed McDonald on a beautiful sunny and wind-free day (but it was still negative 19'F at the trailhead). Here’s a trip report up and some photos.

Beautiful views. Took South ridge to the top and took the east ridge down. Parked near the Valley View summer homes. Took about three hours up and less than two down. There were five of us.

Snowshoed to the top of this peak with the creator of this page kdonaldson. Very tiring hike, but rewarding. Would be much easier in the summer with less of a approach and no soft snow!

Winter assent with bigdan. Possible first winter assent, or at least the first one in the log book:) The last log before ours was in October 04, and there was only maybe a couple dozen posts if that over the past few years. Took 6 hours to summit slogging through sugary snow. Snowshoes the entire route. 3 hours to descend.
