Started hiking from upper Blistlecone trail head. First 2.5 - 3 miles had lots of snow on the trail especially on Bonanza trail.
I bag the McFarland peak on the way back to the trail head.
21.5 mile, 6,300 ft total elevation gain. about 11 hours to complete. Bonanza & McFarland Peak from Lee Canyon
Hiked up a relentless series of switchbacks on the Bonanza Trail. Saw the horsies on the way in and heard the coyotes howling as sunset approached on the descent. A fine workout for someone who lives at an elevation of about 300 feet!
Carried DayHikerJr (age 12 months) to the top. The sign at the trailhead said 4 miles, but it was really 4.7. No big deal, unless you're carrying a 20-pound baby!
Bonanza Peak to McFarland Peak Traverse Date Climbed: Sep 7, 2007
The traverse of the ridge between Bonanza Peak and McFarland Peak was the best part of the hike. Great vistas and good scrambling on very solid rock. We descended via North Canyon and went to look for elk on the way back to Bonanza trailhead, but only saw their prints. It came down to about 12 miles with 4000+ feet of elevation gain.
From south via Bristlecone Trail / Spring Mtn Divide trail Date Climbed: Oct 15, 2006
Birthday hike out of Lee Canyon, after my original plans for Zion were canceled by rain. No views from the summit, but some nice views from the trail along the way. Birds chirping and no sign of anyone else out there. Unspectacular but pleasant all the same.
From Cold Creek Trailhead Date Climbed: Oct 13, 2005
The weather was great on this hike. Awesome views. We started out from Cold Creek Trailhead. I hiked this one along with a buddy of mine and my two dogs. The dogs loved it. We saw a small bunch of wild horses on the way to the trailhead.
