| 2X. Great peak to do along with Edgar. Both times led by the Desert Peaks Section. Fine leadership, all volunteers. Fun people, all experienced climbers.
The traverse to Edgar takes some 3+ hours, with another 1,000+ feet gain, but a good way to bag both with a more efficient use of time. In 2002, we hiked in the dark for 3 hours, with terrible cactus and rocky ground. Lucky no one got really hurt. Another group had to bivvy. This is not a peak for the frail or casual. The views are good, but not great, for the effort.
There are short nature trails in the State Park which are worthwhile for study and some slight exercise. |
