TripoliRickBroke through the Ice  Sucess!

Winter 76-77, my Air Force friend had climbed Mt Blanc with a guide the previous summer so when I saw this on a road map while living in Twin Falls I thought this would be cool and tell him I "winter soloed" the Matterhorn. Not much snow had fallen yet and I drove to Jarbridge from highway 93 and then headed south up the Jarbridge River. A stream crossing was froze and as I drove across it my back wheels broke through and I was stranded. The water wasn't that deep and I was able to free myself by breaking up the ice with my ice axe and drive out. I did end up getting cold water in my boot and no change of socks with me. Parked in the vicinity of Dry Gulch and worked myself up to the peak on a cold cloudy day. Was not one of my best trips.

Hapey McHapeWest Face  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 4, 1994

I was camping in Jarbidge Canyon for the Fourth of July and decided to hike up the mountain. Decended a different way further to the south down a gully with a creek. Bring lots of water.

Paul BurkholderRoute Climbed: South Ridge Date Climbed: September, 2002  Sucess!

I climbed this mountain as part of traverse of the main Jarbidge Mountain ridge with my friend Frank G. Beautiful remote area, a lot more trees than many Nevada ranges.

Climbed this peak on a beautiful fall day. Make sure to stop of in the town of Jarbidge for some home-style cooking.

1000PksRoute Climbed: Trail to Emerald Lake and South Ridge Date Climbed: July 2, 1979  Sucess!

Did this with a Sierra Club group when they did such things, locally. Slow pace to accomodate beginners. I departed from the group on the summit to head down, cross-country, more directly to the trailhead. Steep, but fast. Great sunset that night! Went on to do Kings Peak (Utah HP), then Timp and Nebo.
