GrampahawkBeautiful day  Sucess!

Myson (12 at the time) and I did this one and Monroe. Great views. Mt Washington still had snow at the summit. We camped in the woods near a pond and a moose lumbered through abouyt 5 feet from our tent. The ground shook and it was very scarry.

Climbed with Pierce, Eisenhower and Monroe via the Crawford Path from Highland Center. Another summit reached during a traverse of the Presidentials. The Appalachian Trail over Franklin is one of the best trail sections in the White Mountains with great views for almost the entire way.

Also did the south to north traverse from Crawford Notch to Mt. Washington. This was the third peak on that stretch, and as with most of the others, we could see absolutely nothing.

Missed the loop up from the south, bagged it hiking back to it once I got to the trail on the other side. Third peak on a south to north Presidential Traverse.

Date Climbed: Mar 1, 1996

Barely remember this peak, probably because I had a mild case of hypothermia at the time. Were attemting a winter traverse when hit by a whiteout N of Eisenhower had to make camp on east slope of Monroe. Gotta love the Presi's!!

Did my good deed for the day and helped a misguided tourist find her way back to the car. Stayed in Lake of the Clouds in an actual room with 3 other thruhikers and not the dungeon.

Blynn and I crossed Mt. Franklin's Summit while descending from the Lakes of the Clouds along the Crawford Path. The view across the Oakes Gulf was outstanding. After ascending the ridge two days previously via the Ammonoosuc Ravine and spending a day torturing our ankles on Mt. Washington's summit cone, this walk was almost leisurely. This is a magnificent ridge.

8 peaks - we missed the last one on accident - in 19.8 miles. I slept REALLY well that night!
