| My son (Curtis) and I hiked the North Vista Trail, including the sidetrip to Exclamation Point (definitely worth it!). Great weather. We saw about a dozen other hikers while there. But, we had the summit to ourselves before another pair arrived about 10-minutes behind us. The view of the canyon as the mountain is climbed only gets better and better! | |

| Wonderful views all along the trail. From the summit of Green Mountain the Black Canyon, the West Elk Mountains to the northeast and the San Juan Mountains to the south are amazing. The only person we saw the whole day was a ranger. The North Rim is practically empty in May. Make sure to take the short side trip to Exclamation Point. | |
