My first attempt being twarted by late-morning lightening, I was happy to return to Mount Helen. The variety of wildflowers on her east slope make the uphill slog much less painful. I really enjoyed the views from the summit, and the weather held out allowing us to kick back for close to an hour and eat, sun ourselves and relax. Partner: Carol.

Nice steep tundra to get your legs in shape. Great views of Father Dyer and Crystal and basin below. Enjoyable nap on the summit.

Hiked up the east face with the IU Trekkers. Great conditioner, excellent view. Also a good preview of the east ridge of Father Dyer, which we hope to do later this year. Wonderful day, had some exciting weather that evening. Beautiful mountain and area.

Date Climbed: Jul 23, 2006

Climbed with gurlyclimber as part of a traverse from Father Dyer Peak. The class 3 ridge that connects the two is really fun, a sort of mini-Ellingwood Ridge (LaPlata).

I did the east slopes, then the class 4 ridge to Father Dyer (Would have been easier Class 3 off of the ridge top). From there I bagged Crystal Peak. Three 13ers in a day was brutal for my legs!

Climbed Mount Helen as the first section of a long loop including Father Dyer, Crystal, Pacific & Atlantic. Loved the scramble from Helen to Father Dyer! We finished with a traverse back east along Pacific's east ridge.

Gorgeous day, and like any good summit experience, the winds picked up and snow fell on us! Would be a great slope to ski in the winter!

Pretty unstable snow down lower. Was a great day out with friends (incl miztflip).

Climbed Helen, Father Dyer and Crystal Peak on a beautiful Fall day. Helen's east slopes are simple and relentless. Ridge to Father Dyer is rugged and fun. Helen makes a great early season training climb.

Great corn day. I've also climbed this peak in the summer, but I don't remember a date.
