forjanSnowing on Garnet  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 7, 2009

Again, one of those spur of the moment ideas....Joan and I decided to do a quick trip from San Diego and chose this peak. No views, but we had snow all the way. No one else around.

theronmoon100th HPS Peak  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 10, 2007

6 inches of fresh snow, beautiful, first did Garnet Mountain then Garnet Peak. Outstanding views. My micro HPS quest is over for now. 1993-2007 chasing old Sam Fink. What a fun journey. Thanks Sam

NavySeabeeClimbed from PCT  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 8, 2007

Took the longer PCT route from the picnic area to the north hoping to see more of the desert and the escarpment along the way. Not too many extra views unfortunately. Wife and I enjoyed the ~6 mile walk though in great weather.

The girl actually went along on this one (no, I didn't pay her!). The views into Anza are unbeatable. I've heard that one can see the "green flash" at sunrise from Garnet. Anyone?

Did Schad's Indian Creek Loop from Penny Pines TH, hit Garnet near the end. Fantastic view from the eastern escarpment out over the desert. Some bird whizzed up one side of the peak and down the other so fast you could hear a loud FFttZZFFFTZZWWHHCYZTZZZZ... badass! Saw Acorn Woodpeckers, Turkey Vultures, and Red-Tail Hawks. Heard single bullfrog at Indian Creek crossing. Dodged dozens of mountain bikers on Noble Canyon trail.

Kialv2Nice and Easy  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 14, 2006

My fourth time up here at Garnet Peak. Lovely views of the desert and San Gorgonio in the distance. This is a nice quick hike, where the rewards greatly out weight the work you have to put in to make it.

SteveinFXBGNice day off from a conference  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 6, 2006

Flew to San Diego a day early and took my extra day to go to the Laguna Mountains. Took the PCT to the Garnet Peak Trail. This was a great hike and relatively easy too. Can't beat the views.

kngalaric A couple of times  Sucess!

I love this area in the Laguna Rec. Area right along the Anza Borrego shelf. The views along the ridge are phenomenal. Truly amazing desert scenery.

NavySeabeeApril Fools Day - Belated  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 8, 2006

Well the belated April Fools joke of the day was played on me by the Los Coyotes Indians. My oldest daughter and I were heading to Hot Springs Mountain on an absolutely glorious day. I thought it would be a perfect day to bag the highest point in San Diego county and spend quality time with my soon to be teenager.

Well, after arriving at the entrance booth we quickly changed our plans due to the large sign which stated no 4x4, ATVs, hiking, biking, camping, no passing "GO", no collecting $200. All violaters would be prosecuted. That's a heck of a welcome sign if you ask me! Not wanting to tempt fate we turned tail and headed for the Laguna Mountains and Garnet Peak.

After the short hike up the PCT and summit trail we enjoyed the awesome views without the company of an antenna farm! Bummer the Los Coyotes Tribe wants to keep the highpoint to themselves, but my daughter and I had a great day nonetheless.

Bob BurdRoute Climbed: From the PCT Date Climbed: 2001 / Dec 27, 2005  Sucess!

The PCT following the rim of the Laguna Mtns is a very scenic hike. There are a handful of peaks along the way (including Garnet) which can be easily tagged. Garnet had the best views of the bunch.

The second visit was an HPS peakbagging exercise, good fun. Trip Report

thebeave7Route Climbed: From PCT Date Climbed: Several Times  Sucess!

My latest summit was a midnight hike and bivy on top to watch the stars and await sunrise. There is barely room on the summit for one person to lay down, though there are some flat spots 20ft below the summit rocks. Amazing sunrise.
