SageHawkGreat views of Whites and Sierras  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 6, 2000

I've climbed this big pile of obsidian several times, most recently with my son, Stephen. The views of the White Mountains and the Sierras from the summit are stupendous.

Nice hike on a beautiful day. Don't tell anyone but I picked up a nice piece of obsidian for my rock garden at home...

Date Climbed: May 24, 2009

Easy hike with super views- enjoyed the panorama. Wanted to stay all day. One of our group somehow lost the use trail- it isn't hard to follow- and ended up going down the NE drainage. We were pretty nervous for a couple hours but found him enjoying an extended hike back up the road to the trailhead. Made for an interesting time at least...

Date Climbed: Jan 30, 2009

Drove east on Benton Crossing Road and then took some 4WD roads to get to the western base. Started hiking at 10:30am and took the SW Ridge. Summited by 1:15pm and back to where I parked by 2:58pm (~ 4.5 hrs car-to-car). Perfect blue bird day. Awesome 360-degree views.

Use trail sandy in sections and steep but easy to follow. Drove sedan to 4wd road trailhead via Mcgee Canyon /Sawmill Meadow Rds. Good roads but a few sandy spots to be aware of.

Very smokey. Could barely see the Whites! Off-trail up AND down - didn't even know where the trail began till I stumbled on this page, hehe. Pretty up there.

Dayhike from sawmill, drove on some unmarked forest road to 9,600', saving about 400' on the ascent. Great views.

Date Climbed: Jun 28, 2007

Traversed over after accidentally ending up on the summit of Peak 10800+. Found a register there...signed it, then wandered over to the "real" Glass Mountain.

Did Casa Diablo Mountain earlier that morning. Fun peak with a wide variety of route possibilities.

Beautiful view of the Sierras and Whites! Climbed with my wife, Debbie, and my friend Dan who lives 11 miles away. I like the trail - ducks made of pure obsidian! See my pictures at http://community.webshots.com/user/langenbacher

I was pretty beat after the last two or three days in the Sierra, so I was looking for something without suncups... this was the only DPS peak I could find between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. A very short hike, but with good views of a long stretch of the Sierra Crest, from the Palisades to north of Yosemite. Climbed the ridge highpoint first (the DPS point), then headed over to the named point on the map for better views of Mono Lake.

ClydascopeRoute Climbed: From the North, South, East & West Date Climbed: Many  Sucess!

Glass Mountain has one of the best views anywhere around the Eastern Sierra. I've been up there many times, from many directions and in many of conditions. The whole range is beautiful, lots of hidden treasures to be found.

wingdingRoute Climbed: Standard Route from the jeep trail to the west Date Climbed: June 24, 2005  Sucess!

A short steep hike - well worth the time due to the great summit views and beautiful area. It might be really nice in the fall when the aspens along the drive to the trailhead are red and yellow.
