Date Climbed: Dec 3, 2006

Fun Hike with a little ice. Some dicey steps but great views from half way up.

Dottie Little TentCraggy  Sucess!

Last time I was there I saw a makeshift grave complete with cross and flowers, looked like maybe a pet. Weird! Anyway nice place close to Asheville and it is really cool in heavy fog walking through the laurel tunnels.

GAHikerGirlSteep Climb and a Bit Difficult to Follow at Times...  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 10, 2005

Bagged this one by starting at Mt. Mitchell ranger station and taking MST south-west, so we approached it from the north east. Much better than heading north.

e-docRoute Climbed: MTS Date Climbed: April 22,2005  Sucess!

Started at visitor center and north on MTS and thence to summit. Fairly obvious trail to top. Also got up Graggy Pinnacle. No views either place b/c of clouds. Started to thunder, I hate thunder when I hike. Made it to the car just as the sky opened up. The Blueberries are outstanding in summer. They ain't called Rhododendron Hells for nothing.

CortezRoute Climbed: Walker Falls to MST then bushwhack to the summit. Date Climbed: January 9, 2005  Sucess!

This was a relatively difficult route for this mountain. There is a much shorter and easier route from Greybeard View overlook via the MST.

Lesson taken from this trip: HEATH BALDS AREN"T BALD!!
