From Gibson TH. Intended on climbing the south ridge, but horrible winds forced me to reconsider. Took a more direct line up a very shallow couloir on the west face. It was composed of loose talus, but worth the trade off with the wind. Topped out just north of the summit and it was an absolute battle with the wind to the summit. Went on to UN 13524 and intended on continuing to UN 13513 but the wind simply wouldn't allow me to pass near the saddle!

JJSouth Ridge via Lake of the Clouds With Eric Holle and Ben  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 27, 2007

Went down to meet Eric Holle and Ben on their Sangre de Cristo trip. Climbed Spread Eagle via the South Ridge the day after they went up. Found the final summit ridge to be exciting with the 4th class move and the knife edge characteristics. Would do it again for sure!

Climbed with Ben on the first day of climbing on our 12 day Sangre de Cristo trip. We hit the South Ridge just as a small storm hit making it a fun finale to the day with plenty of exposure and a class 4 move. We also climbed Pt 13,524 that day.

Wonderful summit views. The last two hundred vertical feet of scrambling has just enough exposure to get your heart pounding. Great fun!
