Flying solo on this adventure, had some time to kill before work. Up and down in 2 hours, 30 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed the views.

cp0915South Slope with Knife Edge Variation  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 31, 2008

None of us expected much out of this peak, but it turned out to be really excellent. We accidentally stumbled upon a fantastic knife edge ridge traverse (with fun class 3-4 scrambling and big exposure) on the way. Very nice!

With Matthew (a few entries down). I think his directions are a little off on the route names, but otherwise fairly accurate. I really enjoyed the class 3 ascent on the South Face. Trip Report

Jeff MooreRoute Climbed: Southwest gulley Date Climbed: July, 15 2005

Took a fall while scrambling alone collecting data for a research project. A large rock fell on me after coming loose when I grabbed it. My right forearm muscle was destroyed and left ring finger nearly severed. I then had to hike out to the highway. Trip Report

Matthew HollimanRoute Climbed: South Face - West Side (ascent) / Southeast Slopes (descent) Date Climbed: Aug 4, 2005  Sucess!

Warm-up day for the '05 Sierra Challenge with Bob. Hoffmann's south slopes are easy and not too memorable, but we found the peak's east/northeast ridge to be a very enjoyable 4th class scramble, with a short chimney, some slabs, a slightly awkward move or two, and a bit of exposure to keep things interesting.

After descending Hoffmann's NE Ridge, we continued traversing along a cool knife edge to Tuolumne Peak, another quality class 3-4 scramble via its steep, broken south face. Descended Tuolumne's easy class 2 southeast slopes to meet an old trail (not shown on the 7.5') that led down to the regular May Lake trail, just in time for lunch at the Whoa Nellie. Good scrambling, excellent views, nice flowers--a thoroughly enjoyable half day.

A very nice peak that sees few visitors. With Matthew the second time, we "discovered" a great class 3 route up the South Face leading to the ridge of the south summit.
